Insekt (2015)

Insects move so rapidly human eye cannot see their movement as continuous, but flickery and fragmented. Sometimes we see people moving the same way. May they be suffering from symptoms of stress, twitching eyes after too many hours front of a screen or under fluorescent lights. They might experience tics caused by illness like Parkinson or Tourette. Also people working on conveyor belt, repeating same routines day after day, faster and faster, or practising and mastering a musical instrument with flying fingers.

Insekt is looking into rapid, sudden movements, attempting to find the poetry within. Interactive video installation asks you a question: Do you feel like an insect? If an exhibition visitor feels the relation to bugs and butterflies, he/she can walk through the dark exhibition space under a bright spotlight of a street lamp. Their picture is projected to the wall, among other night insects. Projected video material was shot in a former school building in rural Germany, where the huge windows of well lit class rooms were covered with different moths and mosquitoes, during the dusk.

Interactive video installation, video loop 6 min HD, no sound.
